What it is: Free for two games of bowling EACH DAY of the summer
Fishing is favorite for many kids. They love getting outdoors, having a picnic, and maybe catching something! Here are a few places you could spend a couple hours or your whole day be the water
Common Wealth Park
Hillsboro Parks and Recreation has many free or low cost activities for families this summer. A few of the favorites are:
What it is: Movies at the plaza in downtown Hillsboro
Cost: $5 per person above the age of 3
What it is: Facilitated art activities for the family
What it is: Free activities each weekday AND free lunch for under 18 10:30-1:30pm
Shady wood Park
What it is: Series of concerts at rotating parks in Beaverton. Put on by Tualatin Hills Parks and Rec
Indoor Play Gyms
This is a year round, indoor play place for children. It is great for crawlers, toddlers and preschoolers.
What it is: Scheduled walks/camping/hikes of all ability levels for families. Options of toddler led, baby only, just dads and more can be found.
Hikes: Have you been to the Audobon Society? Washington Park? Cooper Mountain? Jackson Bottom? These are great nature exploration areas
What it is: Various activities put on either by retail stores like Pottery Barn, or by the Mall itself
Museums/Zoo/Portland Childrens Museum
Try exploring the local zoos and museums! Head to a new museum each month, many offer a discount day for lower cost admission. Here’s some of the well known and not so well known places in the area:

Access Memberships- application for $15 memberships is available for some qualifying families
Cost: Varies *general admission is around $8/ticket
What it is: Baseball- Bounce houses and activities for kids in the general admission area.
Themes each game like Star Wars and Barley’s Birthday
Located near most neighborhoods, Farmers Markets are great places to get outside, listen to some music, grab a snow cone and just enjoy supporting small and local businesses!

Fountains & Splash Pads: Of course we can’t forget about getting in the water! Many splash pads and fountains can be found in the area. Check out the Parks and Recs for the town to locate each one
